At Riverside, our greatest asset is our team. Today, we’d like to celebrate Kayce Valentine, who was the winner of our 2020 March Madness sales competition, and an awesome example of how the Riverside work ethic and motivation to succeed makes a difference.

At Riverside, all Account Executives start out with the same opportunity as everyone else. The position is really what you make of it. Kayce was willing to go over and beyond to do whatever it takes to help out her local business owners. It takes a lot of hard work to put yourself in a position to help others, and that is what Riverside is all about: Who can we help and how we can help them!

Her supervisors, Justin Gurtner and Melissa Krepp said: “It's great that Kayce brought the March Madness Trophy back to our home state of Louisiana! I am super proud of Kayce and can not wait to see what else she will accomplish here with Riverside!” and “Kayce is an amazingly hard worker! She has overcome adversity and challenges since being here with Riverside and emerged on the other side stronger and more successful than ever. It is so wonderful to see a rep who follows the scripting, works hard, goes above and beyond in her daily appointments, and is truly a success story with Riverside. Kayce should be an example to all new reps, emphasizing how important the 10 Step Sales Process is, how vital it is to follow the steps, trust our NSMs, trust boarding and support, and what it means to truly build your own dreams. Well done Kayce! I am so proud of you girl! We look forward to watching you continue to succeed and excel with Riverside.” Way to go Kayce!

Get to know Kayce!

Kayce started working with Riverside late November of 2019. When starting with Riverside I had no idea what I was getting into nor what I was doing. She followed the steps, got the quotes and started getting deals. She fell in love with not only Riverside Payments but the people, the energy and the enthusiasm everyone brought to the table.  Here’s what she had to say about her experience with Riverside:

“This was my first year to compete in March Madness, and right in the middle COVID-19 broke out and slowed everything way down. Businesses were being told they must close their doors, some to do takeout only. My home town had major restrictions and a 5pm curfew—most of Louisiana had closed down. I drove anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half one way every day to get to a bigger city to work. I knew I had tough competition and I could not let COVID-19 stop me from getting out there helping merchants save money. I stood in the rain because a business owner did not want anyone in their building. No worries, I always have a pair of back up heels in the car! I'm a very persistent girl, there was no way I was walking away from there without getting at least a quote. Facing problems, stepping out of your comfort zone and working through them makes you stronger.

I live in a small town in the middle of Louisiana called Jena, which is in LaSalle Parish. It's the type of town where everyone knows you by name or knows who your parents are. I love my small community but I knew there had to be more out there. Before Riverside I worked at a number of places; I started at one of our corner convenience stores and worked my way into Walmart. Then I began working as a bank teller. I moved back home and got a job as a housekeeper at a local hospital for a couple of years. I found out I was pregnant in 2017 with my little boy and became a full time mommy. And we all know how testing that can be.

Riverside has opened my eyes on a whole other level. Meeting and working with different merchants on their specific needs and what goes on "behind the scenes" of a business is really cool! I enjoy helping others—it makes my heart smile. I love getting to know the merchants throughout the process.  I am always willing to go that extra mile and take the extra step needed to help so they know they do matter and they're not “just another person". They know they can always contact me if needed. I pride myself on making sure people have the right information because it drives better results. At the end it's not only about making a living, it is about making a helpful difference.

This career works great for me as I love getting out and meeting people. I'm a very outgoing person and can carry on a conversation with anyone!  I'm very relatable and can usually find a common ground with strangers, I like making people feel comfortable in my presence.

I am always smiling and upbeat. I am passionate about my work. This passion leads me to challenge myself daily and learn new skills that help me to grow in my career.”
