STAR-POWER PROFILE: NICK CLAY

February 20, 2017

Before Riverside, Nick Clay held a position as merchandiser and account manager for Coca-Cola for nearly 7 years. When longtime friends Brandon Skinner and Jason Reese approached him with an offer to work for them at Riverside Payments, Nick became their first employee.

Nick first met Brandon and Jason when he was about 7. From the age of 4, he enjoyed playing hockey, and even after aging out of Junior B hockey in Beaverton, Nick became an official working a lot of Junior Hockey games and earning an invitation to officiate two WHL preseason games.

At Riverside, Nick started out in the marketing department setting appointments, quickly moving into tech support where he now holds the title of Department Manager. With his primary focus on Point of Sale Systems, Nick ensures that his Tech Team always offers the best possible service to meet clients’ unique needs.

“I have literally done every position for this company in some form. From our first day working out of Brandon's home office calling and setting appointments, to programming terminals, to installing terminals, to customer service and have even sold a couple of deals of my own.”

Along with his education in business, Nick enjoys furthering his knowledge and experience in his field by travelling to out-of-state training seminars that keeps him apprised on all the latest technology, support practices, and Point-of-Sale Systems.

“It feels very rewarding at the end of the day knowing that we are helping people save money, while providing a superior product and service.”

Occasionally, his dedication has extended to weekends, always willing to answer a text when the need arises for the good of a client. When not at work, Nick enjoys spending time with his three kids, Ava 9, Daylen 6, and Audrina 5. Both daughters play softball and his son is active in youth wrestling. Nick and his girlfriend, Allison, love spending weekends golfing together.

As for his decision to work for his childhood friends…

“Coming to work for Riverside has been the best decision of my life. Since working at Riverside, I’ve started enjoying life so much more. Even on days where I work late nights at the office, I still go home in a great mood and am happy.”
